Test Procedure Overview
- Fill the sample cup to the 25 mL mark with the water sample.
- Attach the valve assembly to the ampoule’s tapered tip up to the reference line.
- Snap the ampoule tip at the score mark.
- Immerse the valve tip in the sample and briefly squeeze the bead valve to draw a small amount of sample into the ampoule.
- Rock the ampoule to mix; the solution will turn blue.
- Continue adding sample incrementally, mixing after each addition, until the solution changes from blue to pink.
- Hold the ampoule upright and read the scale at the liquid level to determine total hardness in ppm as CaCO₃.
