The Ocean Signal rescueME MOB1 is one of the most compact AIS man overboard devices available on the market. ⚠️ Regulatory Notice: Due to the introduction of the AIS Class M regulation (ECC/DEC/(22)02), the MOB1 will not be compliant for use in certain European waters after 31 December 2024. This regulation restricts AIS transmissions from non-Class M devices. Operators in affected regions must verify compliance before use. For continued regulatory compliance, Ocean Signal recommends the rescueME MOB2, which includes full Class M approval.
Usage Restrictions and Compliance
- The rescueME MOB1 does not meet the new AIS Class M requirement for DSC capability on Channel 70.
- From 1 January 2025, the MOB1 will be restricted or prohibited in regions enforcing Class M rules, including Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Georgia, Moldova, Slovak Republic, and Switzerland.
- Other regions may adopt this regulation in the near future.
- The MOB1 remains legal in non-Class M jurisdictions but should not be considered a substitute for an EPIRB or PLB.
