The POTABLE WATER TEST KIT-C is a monitoring kit enabling shipboard personnel to regularly test the drinking water on
board to help determine if it is suitable for consumption. When used regularly, it demonstrates that the vessel remains in compliance with ILO Maritime Labor Convention, 2006. The Convention requires the vessel crew to frequently inspect their potable water system and monitor the quality of drinking water. The POTABLE WATER TEST KIT-C enables shipboard
personnel to test the drinking water as part of their inspection procedures and to demonstrate they are monitoring water
quality.

The Drew Marine Potable Water Test Kit-C is a comprehensive solution designed for shipboard personnel to regularly test the drinking water on board, ensuring it meets safety standards for human consumption. This kit facilitates compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 and U.S. EPA regulations by enabling monitoring of key water quality parameters.
Key Testing Capabilities
- Free & Total Chlorine: Utilizes U.S. EPA-approved DPD colorimetric ampoule tests to measure chlorine levels in the ranges of 0–1 ppm and 1–5 ppm.
- pH & Temperature: Includes a digital pH tester (pHTestr 30) with automatic temperature compensation, ensuring accurate readings for maintaining disinfectant efficacy.
- Total Coliforms & E. coli: Employs Readycult® snap packs for detecting bacterial contamination. After adding the reagent to a 100 mL water sample, the mixture is incubated at 34.5°C to 37°C for 18–24 hours. A color change indicates the presence of coliforms, and a UV lamp is used to confirm E. coli through fluorescence.
Kit Contents
- pHTestr 30 digital pH/temperature meter
- Chlorine ampoules for free and total chlorine testing
- Readycult® coliform test packs (20 units)
- Sterile sample collection bottles
