Portascanner Leak site indentification

Portable Ultrasonic Watertight Integrity tester

IMPA: 652778

The Portascanner™ provides a very flexible and accurate method for inspecting a wide variety of critical seals. The Portascanner was the first device to use ultrasound as a method for leak site identification and since its original conception, has undergone numerous technological evolutions to enhance its operation and accuracy.

  • Applications: Core applications include Bulk Carrier Hatch-covers, Bulkheads, Watertight Doors, Scuttles, Cable Transits (MCTs), Shell Doors, Flanges and Nuclear/Biological/Chemical Warfare Defence Seals
  • Accuracy: Proven capable of locating a leak as small as 0.06mm, has achieved ABS & RINA Classification Society Approval and with an effective range of 100 Meters
  • Decibels & Linear Readings – The Portascanner offers both decibel readings (ideal for P&I or Insurance reports) or the simpler linear diagonal readings (ideal for highly accurate and quick testing, often preferred by crew)
  • Quicker & Cleaner Testing – Portascanner technologies provide significant efficiency, accuracy and speed benefits when compared to the legacy chalk or hose testing. Inspections can be completed in a fraction of the time and with zero mess.
  • Generator Mounting – The Generator is fitted with a powerful magnet, allowing it to be positioned on any metal surface for optimum positioning.  For Bulk Carrier testing, the Generator can be positioned on the hatch combing saving significant amounts of time as there is no need for anyone to climb down to the tank top to position the generator

Equipment: The Portascanner comes complete with all the items which are required to carry out watertight integrity including Generator, Receiver, Extension Rod and cable, Headphones, Operating Instructions and carrying case. Training Manuals are of course included with a Calibration Certificate.
